thats why i recommend the RIP contract, better chances of staying 11B. If you just want airborne school then go 11x option 4, which guarantees airborne school, but it doesnt guarantee you that you will be an 11B instead of 11C. you might not feel like you are ready for RIP but after basic and airborne you will be fine, if for some reason you wanted to give up RIP once you got to airborne school they will let you do that in and most cases let you choose a duty station like bragg.Īt the least though dont go in without an airborne contract, its hard to get airborne if it isnt in your contract and not worth the risk, dont listen to your recruiter if he tells you that you can get it at basic, get it in your contract. make it through RIP and off to Ranger Batt and your future is set, also you will get a bigger bonus and if you dont make it thru RIP you will likely end up at 82nd or alaska at an airborne unit, maybe italy, most likely 82nd though at bragg (home of sf selection by the way). Your best chance of ensuring that is to get a RIP contract, which is an 11X option 40, this will send you to basic at benning, make you an 11B, then off to airborne school, then after than you go to RIP. Must score a minimum of 229 points on the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT), with no less than 60 points on any event, using the standards for age group 17-21.You cant choose 11B just 11X, which means you end up a rifleman (11b) or a mortarman (11c), you wont know which until you get to basic and are assigned, sometimes a whole platoon will be made 11c, sometimes a whole company, needs of the army, for what you are interested in you need to ensure you become 11B.Must be able to swim 50-meters wearing boots and battle dress uniform (BDU) prior to beginning the Special Forces Qualification Course.Must not have 30 days or more "lost time" under USC 972 within current or preceding enlistment.Must not have been terminated from SF, ranger, or airborne duty, unless termination was due to extreme family problems.Must not have been convicted by court-martial or have disciplinary action (such as Article 15).Must not be barred to reenlistment or be under suspension of favorable personnel action.Must have a minimum of 24 months remaining Time in Service (TIS) upon completion of the SFQC, or be able/willing to re-enlist, or extend enlistment agreement.Criminal history waivers (other than minor traffic offenses) are generally disqualifying.Re-Trainees must be in the rank (paygrade) of E-4 to E-7.
